Renters, help task force evaluate RTE

Most landlords’ taxes increased as a result of the RTE, which may translate to increased rent for tenants.

If you rent in Acton and have perspectives on the cost of living here, we want to hear from you at bit.ly/ResTaxSurvey. The Tax Relief Evaluation Task Force is evaluating the effectiveness of Acton’s residential tax exemption in achieving its objective of supporting economic diversity and helping elderly residents to continue to live in Acton, with the survey being an important input.

While renters do not directly pay property taxes, most landlords’ taxes increased as a result of the RTE, which may translate to increased rent for tenants. As such, the voice of the renter is critical to our efforts and is one we have yet to sufficiently capture.

In addition to the survey being available online, hard copies of the survey may be found at Town House, either of the public libraries or at the Council on Aging.
