Select Board launches informal office hours
We believe residents should have opportunities to talk with their elected officials in a more relaxed setting.
Have a question about what is happening in Acton? Have an idea or a concern, or simply want to understand an issue better? Come talk with us.
Acton is facing many important decisions, and the Select Board is discussing a wide range of issues that will affect our community. We believe residents should have opportunities to talk with their elected officials — not only during formal public meetings, but also in a more relaxed and informal setting.
That’s why we are starting Select Board Office Hours. Beginning Thursday, October 15, two Select Board members will be available every other Thursday in the morning (9 a.m.) and in the evening (6 p.m.) in the Trustee Room at the Main Library for informal conversations with Acton residents. There will be morning and evening sessions, with Select Board members rotating so that residents have an opportunity to meet with different members of the board.
There won’t be a formal agenda. You can stop by to ask a question, raise a concern, share an idea, or simply learn more about an issue that matters to you. We hope these conversations will be open, informative, and lively. Our formal Select Board meetings will continue to be an important part of Acton’s open-government process. But we also recognize that a formal meeting isn’t always the best setting for a conversation. With several important matters likely to come before Town Meeting next May, we want Acton residents to have ample opportunity to understand the issues, ask questions, and share their perspectives before those decisions are made.
So please stop by. Bring a question. Bring an idea. Bring a neighbor. We look forward to seeing you and having a good conversation about Acton and its future.
