Acton-Carlisle golfers overcame early missteps to take down the Weston Wildcats, 236-257, in a Dual County League contest on September 17.

  • Team record: Overall 4-1, Dual County League 4-1
  • Big day: From the tee on the par-3, 127-yard ninth hole, co-captain Sophie Redmond launched a majestic 9-iron toward the green. Her ball caught a ridge and, taking almost a 45-degree angle, rolled about 8 feet before striking the pin and settling into the cup for a hole-in-one. Redmond completed her round at 1-under-par 34.
  • Unsung heroes: Tate Miller tallied two birdies for an even-par 35. Jake Jones and co-captain Glen Murdough followed with strong rounds of 39.
  • Up next: CCHS was to host Hopkinton in the “Links for Cancer” at Acton Country Club on September 22.

CCHS 240, Wayland 276

The Patriots took advantage of home-course familiarity, playing a clean, confident match from tee to green to overpower the visiting Warriors on September 15.

  • Big day: Leading the way was Jake Erston, who caught fire late with back-to-back birdies on the par-4 eighth and par-3 ninth, finishing with a solid 37.
  • Unsung heroes: Murdough, Miller, and Ben Brooks each shot a 39 as the Pats keyed on well-struck drives and precise approach shots, controlling the course from start to finish.

Westford Academy 237, CCHS 244

On their home course, Westford Academy golfers finessed their way past the Patriots, who left many opportunities on the greens. In the September 14 match decided by just seven strokes, those missed chances proved costly.

  • Big day: Redmond and Miller each posted a round of 37.
  • Unsung hero: Co-captain Joe Grasso followed the leaders with a 40.
