Please join me and many others in support of Karlen Reed for town moderator. The role of moderator requires a leader who has a deep understanding of our Town Meeting procedures and profound respect for every voice in the room. Karlen is that person.
Karlen has proven her commitment and respect for government and residents. When she and her husband and son moved to Acton in 2009, she immediately put her training as a lawyer, and her skills and interests, to work on the League of Women Voters and as an election poll leader.
Karlen currently serves as the clerk of the Acton Finance Committee. As such, she is well-versed in town financial affairs and Town Meeting procedures.
Her leadership on the League of Women Voters exemplifies her commitment to open and accessible town government. Karlen will be a force reaching out to Town Meeting warrant proponents to ensure articles meet legal requirements. She is a good listener. Her work ethic and attention to detail will ensure the warrant is accurate and informative.
Karlen will moderate Town Meeting fairly and with humor, which is welcome during the inevitable difficult discussions.
