Support mixed-use courts at Rideout Park
As direct abutters to the mixed-use courts at Rideout Park, we genuinely enjoy the sounds of fun coming from the park.
As direct abutters to the mixed-use tennis/pickleball courts at Rideout Park, we genuinely enjoy the sounds of fun coming from the park. However, we are deeply concerned that the current proposals being evaluated by the Recreation Commission to repurpose some or all of the courts for exclusive pickleball use will take away the diversity of activities Rideout offers.
The current configuration allows for tennis or pickleball — but configuring for pickleball does not allow for tennis. Why would this make sense? Particularly given that West Acton has only three public-use tennis courts — as opposed to the 11 in Acton Center, none of which are striped for mixed use — we strongly support resurfacing the courts in their current configuration. If you agree, please provide public comment by email to Leigh Jackson, Acton’s recreation director.
We look forward to being good neighbors to all who enjoy the community gem that is Rideout Park — including both pickleball and tennis players — for years to come.
