Vote for Sam Hiersteiner to bring ‘new energy’ to the Select Board

We need a collaborative, energetic voice motivated to serve all of Acton’s residents, not just the most familiar ones.

I endorse Sam Hiersteiner for the open Select Board seat.

Acton’s Select Board must act with energy and responsibility on financial management, town operations, and the character of our community. Sam brings the right combination of professional experience, civic commitment, and fresh perspective to navigate these challenges. His three priorities — quality of life through fiscal responsibility and dynamic development, deeper civic engagement, and protecting our cultural heritage — reflect an energetic, forward-looking vision for the town that is currently lacking.

What most excites me about Sam is his commitment to meeting the needs of all generations of Acton residents. The Select Board has too often defaulted to spending town resources for the immediate convenience of those most involved in town governance. We need a collaborative, energetic voice motivated to serve all of Acton’s residents, not just the most familiar ones.

A town that prides itself on welcoming people and ideas should extend that spirit to its own civic life. Acton is stronger when it embraces the energy and perspectives of all its residents, not just those with the longest tenure. The Select Board must also open its committee appointments to those who bring diverse perspectives — not just those who reinforce the priorities of a familiar few. That change starts by adding new energy and perspectives to the Select Board itself.

Sam is not looking for something to do with his time — he’s a working parent with young kids who has real, daily stakes in the decisions the Select Board makes — especially for families and children. Sam will bring the urgency and energy the board needs — and he’ll do it with a collaborative and inclusive spirit that has been absent from the board.

I encourage Concordians to vote for Sam on March 31.
