Advocates aren’t taking no for an answer when it comes to tracking immigration detainee flights.
“If you aren’t going to budge on this, then you’re clearly working for ICE.”
“ICE isn’t going to be transparent on its own. We need to force them.”
State officials are seeing green — in more ways than one — in “sustainable aviation fuel.”
The timeline “keeps slipping,” said Wendy Rovelli, Acton’s representative on the Hanscom Area Towns Committee.
Emails and day schedules showed he often headed into Cambridge for meetings with prominent academics.
“Don’t they want to protect against human trafficking? Don’t they want to have safety protocols so nobody dies on the plane?”
Despite concerns from airport neighbors, Boston-based Merlin Labs announced that it will relocate to a former Navy hangar.
The $5.5 million project sits mostly within Acton’s share of Hanscom. It includes resurfacing the airport’s existing Taxiway E.
Advocates say they are still angry about ICE’s tactics and are on guard for the agency’s possible return.
Project supporters repeated assurances that their plans won’t bring an air traffic surge to the skies over Acton.
Updated: The agency had been routing flights through Hanscom for many years but “recently decided to stop.”
